Question
Watched your show for the first time last Sunday and loved it.
Took lots of notes. Now I need help! I have to be glued to my
computer in order to download anything that takes longer than
20 minutes or it will shut down on me! I was told to download
at night, because it won't matter if I tie up my phone line, but
I find if I don't sit right there so I can select "don't
disconnect me now," my computer shuts down and I get an incomplete
download. My computer will bring up this disconnect or don't disconnect
menu 3 times in 1 hour! I don't want to be glued to my computer
while downloading - what am I doing wrong?

Answer
The "Tech Talk staff" replied:
It looks like your connection is set to disconnect if it is "idle"
for a certain amount of time. You can check this by right clicking
on the icon for Internet Explorer and choosing the option for Properties.
From here click on the Connections tab. Double click on your dial-up
connection and
click on the Advanced button in the Dial-up Settings box. The window
that comes up should have an option for setting the automatic disconnect
time. |
